Weekly Update #2
Dia dhuit!
This week was super exciting, it was my first trip out of Madrid to one of my bucket list destinations! Having Irish roots, I’ve always been drawn to the island, and with it just a 2-hour flight away I had to go.
Night 1:
Our flight landed in Dublin late Friday night and we took a cab straight to our hotel. Unfortunately, we were surprised to find out our hotel was right above a popular club.
The music was so loud that the bass was literally shaking our beds until 5 am. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. The next morning we asked for a refund, which luckily the staff was surprisingly understanding and gave us a refund for the following nights.
Day 2:
We spent Saturday morning exploring the city of Dublin,
Trinity College,
and the Dublin Castle.
After a little exploring, we went to our appointment at the Guinness Storehouse.
At Guinness, we toured the brewery
Smelled the individual essence of the main ingredients,
Learned how to drink Guinness correctly,
And we each received a free pint of Guinness to drink at the notorious Gravity Bar
After the Guinness experience, we ate some traditional Irish food at O'Neill's, and I went to my first pub!
Day 3:
If you ever have a chance to visit Ireland I strongly recommend taking the Paddywagon Tour for £40 to the cliffs of Moher. The driver was super friendly, takes you on more detours than competing tours, and the cliffs are a must see while in Ireland; it was well worth the money.
Our first stop was at Kinvara, a colorful ancient fishing village
Next, we stopped at the “baby cliffs”
Shortly after, we had lunch at a nearby restaurant that was in the cutest little countryside town.
Finally, we made it to the cliffs; they were absolutely breathtaking.
I couldn’t really capture how massive these cliffs are in photos, but they are definitely in the top 5 of the most beautiful places I’ve been to.
Luckily, we caught the cliffs on a sunny day but it was extremely muddy and windy!
My hair was covering my face almost the entire time, but it was just a small price to pay to have this once in a lifetime experience.
After hiking the cliffs, we were exhausted, so we ate some Irish fish and chips and ended up in bed around 10 pm (The earliest we've gone to bed in weeks!)
Day 4:
Our final day in Ireland wasn't too eventful due to our 5 pm flight. We mostly went souvenir shopping, but we were able to make a quick stop at the world famous Temple Bar.
Consequently, this short holiday left me wanting more, so hopefully, in the near future, I will have the opportunity to see Ireland again.
Til’ next time,
Kelly
Where will we go next?
